The original freight shed and 1893 two-story addition beginning the move to the temporary staging area.
View looking SE past the 1918 addition. The new permanent location for the Depot is approximately 100 feet to the left of the 1918 addition in this photo. The building sections will be moved over the Elmhurst Street crossing, and be placed over the new footings already in place.
The original freight shed and 1893 addition moving across Elmhurst Street. This part of the structure is being staged temporarily until the 1918 addition is moved across the CSX tracks to its new permanent position.
The 1918 addition begins the journey to the new site. Newport News Department of Engineering and Newport News Police Department provided key support at this critical stage.

The 1918 addition is moved into position at the new site. Footings are already in place. Once the two building sections are rejoined, a new block foundation will be installed and the Depot lowered onto the new foundation.
